Wanted to give you an update! The places he's been....Several Restaurants, the hair stylist place, church, eye doctor, the dog groomer's to take his budy - elvis - . He met the new dog obedience trainer..he doesn't want to start working with him until he's 16 weeks old....we're already working with him. HE HAS BEHAVED LIKE HE WAS BORN A SERVICE ANIMAL. When we go into some place where we meet people or have business to take care of, we ask him to sit, if we are talking for more than a moment of so, he goes into the down position without be asked to. If we're there for a long time, he lays down and goes to sleep. Precious! Alerting......He is! RAndi hasn't had that many lows lately because she is not in athletics as the moment. He alerts to the highs, and I don't know if it's my imagination, but she has been in the normal range a lot more often lately, don't know if Cooper has anything to do with it, but it's amazing! We HAVE to get her A1C down over the next two months, from 8.4 to into the 7's if possible. They have found some protein in her urine which indicates something going on with her kidneys...I'm praying that Cooper plays a part in repairing any damage to the kidneys and getting these numbers down..I'll keep you updated. I have had Randi spit on a cotton ball for the lows and the highs, and freeze them in seperate baggies. I put a favorite toy in with the lows and he is learning about "find the low" or "find the high". when we say "check me" he does so with vigor. When he gets up at 6:00 to go potty, he goes right back to Randi's door, he's not finished sleeping. he wants to lay as her pillow...she's working on that...lol He looks at us with an understanding of "if you will show me how...I'll do it!" Randi has completely fallen in love with him and he is proving himself to her everyday. She had made up her mind not to take him to school until he could be trusted. I think he's passed the test. Thank you so much Liz, again. Everyone LOVES HIM! He is a perfect gentleman. The commands that he has learned and does consistently with hand signals are: Sit, Stay, Come, Down, Shake,. High Five, Roll Over....Check me (voiced) He's not getting her bag and bringing it yet, but we're working on it. When she starts checking, he NEVER takes his eyes off the process. If she's in normal range, he's really not that interested, but if she's ot, he's very interested and tries to comfort her. She had trouble getting her site in a couple of days ago, she cried, and he laid by her side, comforting her and licking her tears with his paw on her heart...so sweet. He does not like getting into the car and tries to avoid it, but he does not whine and i'm teaching him how to get into the car without help. He stays until I allow him to get out. His favorite place to be is with randi - perfect, wherever she is ,he wants to be! We are taking a road trip to San Antonio to visit my son. We'll be in the Riverwalk mall, several restaurants, driving to corpus to the beach and to visit Texas A & M Corpus Christi campus, then we are coming back to visit Texas State University in San Marcos. We are taking him to get his shots next week. He's wonderful and love him very much... more updates to follow after our trip. |
At 9 weeks old, Dray has already learned how to Sit, turn around, lay down and walk up and down Chloe with NO fear at all. His balance is awesome and she watches/feels for it as he walks.
